Following our successful inaugural conference in 2016, the Wild Animal Welfare Committee is delighted to announce this full-day event taking place in Edinburgh on 19 November 2018.

Featuring thought-provoking presentations and updates on the work of the WAWC over the last two years, this year’s conference will ask questions on “guardianship”, such as:

• Do regulators pay enough attention to wild animal welfare?
• When do we become responsible – legally and ethically – for the welfare of a wild animal?
• When do benign interventions, such as reintroductions, put welfare at risk?
• What should we all be doing to protect the welfare of wild animals in the UK?

Please join us in Edinburgh this November, and help WAWC find the answers!

The Conference will take place on Monday 19 November 2018, in Edinburgh.  Booking opens 1 August 2018.

What delegates said about the 2016 event:

“Great conference yesterday. Many thanks for squeezing me in and for your welcome.”

“I think it went really well today - thanks for all your efforts. I think you should be proud of what WAWC has achieved in quite a short time.”

“Yesterday was such a brilliant success! The turnout was terrific, the talks were great and the food lovely. The best thing of the day was the mix of people who attended and the acceptance by these diverse groups that progress could be made by co-operation. What more could one hope for at this early stage in the establishment of the central role for the WAWC?”

“Just a quick note to congratulate you on an excellent conference on Tuesday. Thoroughly enjoyable, excellent speakers, wonderful venue. My, you have really set the bar high for next year! “
